Taiwan Expedition

Hey Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!! Clinton just got back from Taiwan!! With whom?!?!? Girlfriend?? NO.. That’s what all my commanders ask when I tell them I’m on leave. It’s with my beloved bro, RYAN LYE CHAI YONG.

Well, the trip was kind a chance for me to get away once in a while. Experience more stuff, see more things. More significantly is the person who is living with you. Glad to say also, Ryan and I got lots to talk and discuss about. Sometimes of course to some heated ones, but still able to get ourselves back la… Lol... We got ourselves around by every means available, train, MRT, cabs, ship, by foot. By foot the most. Clocking some distances everyday. Recce commanders sure has their working hazards. Ryan was like taking out the map and nearly every 5 mins!!! HAhahhah… I thought they all use the navigation data sheets?? My god…!!

Being competitive (both of us), we keep having some challenges here and there. Of course, the nature of our job, challenging situation awareness and assessment. There was once Ryan was urgently looking for the restroom. Walking here and there, then and the corner of my eye I spotted this man with the ultra relieved face and most importantly, wet hands walking up from a stairway. Well, I won this time!! I found the toilet twice for Ryan during the whole trip!!

Girls, Food, shopping paradise..!! Recommend all ladies out there, where you like, love, need shopping!! Taipei is the place. If you going to visit these shops one by one, day by day, it will like take you… 50 years?? :) Food!! Needless to say… Every hawker tempts you like crazy, you’ll never be able your figure… Girls there… Hmm.. No offence to Singaporeans, ratio of good looking ones are high! But I think more importantly, their dress sense is amazing. They really know how to dress up, or is because of the culture there…

Taiwan is a recommended to all, especially for couples, there are also countless of places for you to go “pak taw”!! Oh ya… if you are interested in looking at the photos, can look out at Ryan’s blog, me too lazy… Still considering outing pictures in my blog…

12 hours in Orchard...

GOSH!!! Spent near to 12 hours in orchard area shopping… Yep, you’re right, went to do X’mas shopping. Is the first X’mas which I draw salary from the big boss. So… The biggest present went to my MUMMY!! She’s been ultra active lately, going to culinary classes, taking care of my daily chores… She’s outstanding so got her a Burberry’s bag to add to her glorious collection… Yup, went on and accompanied her to get presents for my cousins. Already quite drained till this point but I still need to buy more presents for some important people. Alright Mum and Dad went off. Mich came to take over. We are like walking for miles la... before getting some infant clothing for my baby niece and a gift for Aunt Charlotte.

Mich was incredible, always so enthusiastic, me already quite “seh”… Luckily go her to accompany me. Ya, met Casey and Zhirong. Casey told me this girl agreed to attend my commissioning ball. Which is like 9 months away!! And I DON’T know who she is, what her character like, how she look like… What’s her name?? Thanks Casey :)... Had a great dinner at this place in Tanglin Mall for Sabu sabu. It’s been advertised in Mich’s blog already so shan’t say much.

Just do not understand females out there who can shop for years and also why do they need so many clothes, bags, accessories for?? (Ops…) It’s even more draining then a field camp… Whew...

Relac Clint~

Yup, just went through a intriguing first 2 days of my attachment. It’s kind of far, not only from my house but the building is like miles away even from the main gate. Luckily the first day a driver is arranged for me o drive me in and out. BUT is only for the first day…!! Basically did 0.11111112 of work, altogether just helped to type something which only took me 5 minutes of the 2 days. I’m drawing salary… Feel ultra uneasy… Must find things to do.

Only 2 days, I discovered that there are many things to learn, many materials to read, need to read lots of news. And luckily these things interest me which is important to me. It makes me more motivated to find out more myself.

Met very nice guys, from clerks up to the Colonels. All are always willing to help and willing to teach and coach me. Just by sitting in one side listening to their conversations helped me gained much knowledge.

Very important point here!! I’ll be free for dinner with anyone, if anyone who doesn’t have any dinner khaki can look for me ya… 1900-987616**..........

REFLECTION for AFST

HEY!!! It’s been some time that I last updated my blog, which is my connection to all of you out there. I apologize... Time flies, with the blink eye I completed my Air Force Service Term. Remember six weeks ago I was moaning about the cock ups with my posting, about changing service... Here I am completion of the second phase of my officer cadet life.

Well, in the past 6 weeks, syllabus is like getting to know the whole Air Force, but more importantly, is character building and understanding myself more. Previously in Alpha Wing, I got to know myself in terms of hardship, physically. Over in Air Wing, in a complete environment and culture I also got to know about other areas of myself. Over here, it is definitely less physically demanding and NO “tekan” sessions, cadets run their own systems. Because of this self discipline is very much in the picture. The lack of it will see everything in a mess. You start to slacken down, join people in computer while you should be studying, visit the cadet mess like nobody business, etc… I think self- discipline is not to stay away from those, rather finding the balance.

The compositions of Air Wing are very interesting too. There are ultra rich people, Scholars (SAFOS, SMS, MTA caliber), commandos, naval divers, ladies, officers –on-course, etc… When these people come together they actually form a special aura that the Wing is emitting.

Initially, I thought in the Wing relationships is kind of shallow. Without the “Tong2 Gan1 Gong4 Ku3” sessions the relations would not be so deep. I was partially wrong, time plays a big factor. Support was still needed for each other, helping each other out during adversities. I didn’t realize it till the end of course night when I see some tearing, some commented how much they going to miss each other… I find it interesting as in how human feelings can evolve and the process of it. Why did I say I was only partially wrong? Simply because I believe those “tekan” sessions are actually catalysts to team bonding.

I am also proud to announce that OCT Clinton lam bagged 2 of 3 awards of the course!! He is actually the BEST PT and the BEST TRAINEE of 57/04 AFST. Yeah…

These passed 10 weeks (TST & AFST) in OCS has given me much insights, exposure and experience. Moving on, I’ll be having course in other schools for the remaining of my life as an officer cadet. More challenges awaits…
